Research profile

Benny Ng Msc received his master degree real estate management in 2015 at the TU/e. He graduated on the topic of regional collaboration among municipalities in the region of Eindhoven on the surplus of land designated for industrial sites. During his master thesis he gained interest in the innovative regions and the role real estate could provide for knowledge. After his graduation at the TU/e he worked at the consultancy firm The Bridge Business Innovators, a subsidiary of Twynstra Gudde in Amersfoort. He aided in market searches and new business development processes for clients seeking future strategic possibilities for their business portfolio.

In January 2016, Benny started his PhD research at the TU/e on the topic of science parks. Area developments that are expected to facilitate the creation and growth of (new) firms, technology development, innovative output and ultimately economic development through the provided state-of-the-art (shared) Research & Development facilities, services and networking possibilities among science park firms.

Although, science parks are gaining worldwide popularity in the global knowledge economy, much is left to be discovered. His research explores the perceived benefits and preferences of technology-based firms in relation to science parks. What benefits do firms reap as result of their presence on a science park? And which trade-offs in science park attributes do these firms make when faced with hypothetical location choices?

His research interests come from different fields, such as economic geography, real estate management and innovation management. His work has been published in international peer-reviewed journals such as Research Policy and The Journal of Technology Transfer.
