Tom van Hattem is a doctoral candidate in the Biomaterials Engineering and Biofabrication (BEB) group at Eindhoven University of Technology. His research focuses on the development of predictive in-vitro bone models through advanced 3D printing approaches, including Xolography. This work is carried out in collaboration with the Smart Biomaterials Consortium (SBMC) and the Nanoscopy for Nanomedicine (N4N) group. 

Academic background

Tom van Hattem obtained his BSc in Biomedical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in 2023, followed by his MSc in Biomedical Engineering in 2025. For his master’s thesis, he developed an in-situ imaging method to advance cell-laden manufacturing using xolography, under the supervision of Miguel Dias Castilho and Lorenzo Albertazzi. He gained further experience during internships at VES – Process Engineering of Electrochemical Systems (TUDa), where he worked on continuous biomanufacturing, and at Xolo GmbH, where he focused on advancing imaging in xolography.
