Research profile

Tom Lenders is a PhD candidate in the Mechanics of Material research group in the department of Mechanical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). The aim of his research is to develop a multi-scale numerical model to predict the long-term performance of fibre-reinforced plastics under cyclic loading and exposed to harsch environments.

Academic background

Tom Lenders obtained his BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2017. Following his interest in materials science and numerical techniques he obtained his MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering in the research group Mechanics of Materials in december 2019. During his master thesis he investigated the behavior of locally resonant acoustis metamaterials using homogenization techniques. After finishing his master Tom started his PhD in the mechanics of materials group guided by Joris Remmers, Leon Govaert and Marc Geers.
