Some big dreams start on a small (nano)scale

Research profile

Tijin Saji is a Doctoral candidate in the Materials Simulation & Modelling group in the Applied Physics department at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research is on multiscale modelling of gas-water interface for life science applications of cold plasmas. Reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) produced by plasmas have therapeutic effects. Tijin intends to study the dynamics of RONS at the gas-water interface on the most fundamental level using quantum chemistry techniques and molecular dynamics simulations.

Academic background

Tijin Saji obtained a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Engineering Physics, cum laude, from the National Institute of Technology, Calicut, India, in 2019. He obtained his MSc in Materials Science and Engineering from the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), in 2021. During his master's studies, he investigated borophene structures for their hydrogen storage capabilities using quantum calculations based on Density Functional Theory (DFT). In September 2022, he started his PhD in the Applied Physics department at TU/e.
