Sebastiaan Huntjens

Sebastiaan Huntjens was born in 1976. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Imaging and held a position as radiological worker for several years. In 1998 he started as radiological worker at the University Hospital Maastricht and started his study in Health Care Policy and Administration at the University of Maastricht. In 2002 he became managing director of the oncology research school GROW. Between September 2006 and June 2010 Sebastiaan was appointed as advisor technology transfer at the Contract Research Centre for Maastricht University. Starting June 2010 he worked as manager for The Maastricht Forensic Institute (TMFI). In August 2013 Sebastiaan took on the position of general director of the company. Between 2010 and 2015 TMFI has grown to an established forensic institute in The Netherlands.

Starting August 2015 Sebastiaan moved on to a new challenge by changing positions to Koenen and Co Grants Advisors. Working with new innovative companies, scientists and entrepreneurs in a diverse range of fields. From January 2016 until March 2018 Sebastiaan headed the Grants Advisory department, with a dedicated team of funding acquisition experts.

Starting April 2018 Sebastiaan joined the company Health Innovation Ventures, an incubator-type entity yo assist in technology transfer and commercializing medtech and life-science ideas that arise from the scientific field. In this position he is involved in the startup and further development of several life science companies. Next to this position he is part of the Department of Precision Medicine at Maastricht University, headed by prof. Philippe Lambin and is responsible for project management and control of multiple large scale European funded research projects. Within the department his focal area is technology transfer and Intellectual Property Management.

In 2021 Sebastiaan joined the company Relief Administrations, assisting clients in grant writing and subsidy advice.

From December 2022 onward Sebastiaan works as Sr. Business Developer for The Gate at Eindhoven university of Technology, with his focal area in Biotech, Pharma, Medtech and Life Sciences.
