Academic background

Sanaz Abbasi obtained her Chemical Engineering BSc, Food Industry at the Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), Tehran, Iran and her MSc at the Materials Science and Engineering, Sabanci University, Istanbul, Turkey
After finishing her MSc she started as PhD candidate in the Membrane Materials and Processes Group, Chemical Engineering & Chemistry, Eindhoven University of Technology and Elestor, Arnhem.
Her expertise are membrane materials, characterization and performance, Ion-exchange membranes, Hydrogen-bromine technology, Electricity storage, Electrochemical cells and Functional nanomaterials

Research profile

The aim of the project Membrane development and performance study in Hydrogen-Bromine flow batteries is to develop amphiphilic membranes based on cost-effective materials, such as PVDF (poly(vinylidene fluoride)), with outstanding chemical stability, mechanical strength and high proton conductivity. Material and membrane characterization methods are carried out to investigate the structure of prepared membranes and compare their performance with the commercially available membranes. At final stage, the tested membranes will be used for large-scale HBFB production.
