Personal profile

Research profile

Sana Ansari is a PhD candidate in Orthopaedic Biomechanics (OPB) group under supervision of Prof. Dr. Keita Ito and Dr. Sandra Hofmann. Her current research is on the development of an in vitro bone model under defined biochemical environment. This provides a controlled environment to investigate the effect of soluble factors on cell behavior and bone formation/resorption. This addresses the problem of using the variable, complex, and unknown composition of current cell culture systems. To accomplish this goal, multiple techniques including confocal microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and micro-computed tomography are used.

Academic background

Sana Ansari has a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering and Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. During her graduation project, she focused on simultaneous effects of mechanical and biochemical stimuli on chondrocytes, the cartilage specific cells. In 2019, she joined the Orthopaedic Biomechanics (OPB) group in Biomedical Engineering Department as a PhD student with the focus on improve the biochemical environment to develop in vitro human bone models.
