In his research, Rolf applies advanced analytical techniques to improve decision-making in transportation and logistics, with a focus on public transport. Within this field, he is interested in a wide range of problems, from strategic planning to real-time rescheduling, which he approaches both from practical and theoretical angles. Currently, Rolf is captivated by the deceptively simple question of how one should evaluate the service quality of public transport.
Rolf obtained his PhD with the distinction cum laude from at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. At the same university, he also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Econometrics and Operations Research and a Master’s degree in Econometrics and Management Science, with a specialization in Operations Research and Quantitative Logistics. Rolf’s work has been published in journals such as Transportation Science and Transportation Research Part B.
