Personal profile
Research profile
Rick Thijssen is a PhD candidate within the Dynamics and Control section of Mechanical Engineering, under the supervision of Nathan van de Wouw and Rob Fey. His current research is centered around the modelling of structural dynamics. In cooperation with ASML, he aims to improve the predictability and computational efficiency of structural assembly models, focussing on damping within complex interconnected systems.
Academic background
Rick Thijssen, born in 1999, obtained his bachelor’s degree (cum laude) in Mechanical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2021. He got awarded his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering within the section Dynamics and Control at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2024. During his studies, he did an internship at ASML on parameter updating of finite element models, as well as a graduation project in cooperation with Demcon on semi-supervised machine learning for mechanical ventilation. Now he proceeds his career within the Dynamics and Control section as a doctoral candidate.
