Academic background

Firat Tigrek received his MSc degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey in 2005, and his PhD from the Department of Microelectronics at the Delft University of Technology in 2010. From 2002 to 2005 he was Test Engineer at Aselsan A.S., Ankara, Turkey, and from 2011 to 2018 Radar Systems Engineer again at Aselsan A.S. Since 2018 he is postdoc at the Signal Processing Systems Group in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands.

Firat Tigrek's research interests include radar signal processing, radar waveform design, multifunction RF systems, radar beam scheduling and sensor management.

As systems engineer, Firat Tigrek was responsible for developing system scenarios and interface control documents, algorithms for calibration and fault management, and integration, verification and validation of radar systems with active electronic scanning antennas. His contributions include the development and integration of reliability engineering and fault management tools, design of radar waveforms, modeling and analysis of active electronically scanned array antennas and development of calibration and mechanical alignment procedures.

Firat Tigrek was a member of NATO STO's Research Task Groups SET-223 "Adaptive Radar Resource Management", SET-179 "Dynamic Waveform Diversity and Design", SET-182 "Radar Spectrum Engineering and Management". He also contributed to SET-204 Specialists Meeting on "Waveform Diversity".
