"It's a small step for a man to apply design science research. It's a giant leap for mankind when it becomes common science" (Opdenakker, 2024; free after a quote from Neil Armstrong, July 1969)
Raymond Opdenakker is co-CEO of Bureau Lara. As University Lecturer, he is academically affiliated with Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Open University (The Netherlands), and the Radboud University. His research is in the field of design science research, virtual teams and (sustainable) business models (innovation).
Raymond Opdenakker obtained his PhD at the Faculty of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). He also holds a MSc degree in work- and organisation psychology from the Open Universiteit, and a BA degree in Human Resource Management from the Hogeschool Zuyd in Sittard. After working as a Human Resource Manager at several organisations, he worked as an assistant professor at the Open Universiteit for four years. In 2000 he started Bureau Lara (www.bureaulara.nl), together with his wife. He has authored, most often with Carin Cuypers MSc MSc, up to 80 articles and eleven books on diverse business issues.
His PhD promotor was Prof. Dr. Ir. em. Joan Ernst van Aken, with whom he worked together for several years, learning how to conduct research by using Design Science Methodology. Since that time, Raymond was and is involved in several courses at the TU/e concerning Design Science Methodology. A methodology, which he also transfers (inter)nationally in several ways.
He already supervised 75 Master thesis, and numerous AD, Bc and MBA theses.
