Research profile
Rastko Pajković is a PhD student looking into the best way to marry OCT application requirements with possibilities that the generic photonic integration technology, as provided by the project partner SMART Photonics, offers. In other words, as a part of the European FBI project, Rastko is exploring the limits of widely tunable laser systems in InP technology for biomedical imaging. The ideal is a compact replacement for current bulky and misalignment-prone OCT systems, that you could put in your pocket without breaking it.
Academic background
Rastko Pajković obtained a diploma in Electrical Engineering and Computing from the University of Belgrade, specializing in Nanoelectronics, Optoelectronics and Laser technology. He continued to pursue a joint master degree from Aix-Marseille University and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology as a part of EuroPhotonics Erasmus Mundus master program in Optics and Photonics. Rastko's MSc thesis on 'Seamless integration of InP lasers and SOH modulators via photonic wire bonds' illuminated the advantages and disadvantages of the dark side of photonics.
