Biography

Perry den Brok (1973) obtained his PhD at Utrecht University (IVLOS) on a study entitled 'Teaching and student outcomes', an educational effectiveness research. After his PhD he was postdoc researcher on a study on teaching in multicultural classes between 2001 and 2005 and during the same period he was also external member of the research group on multicultural education of Utrecht University of Applied Science. Between 2005 and 2007 he was Assistant Professor and consultant at Utrecht University, obtained his basic qualification in educational consultancy. He was research associate at George Mason University (Department of Multicultural and Multilingual Education) between September 1999 and May 2000, and was visiting researcher at the Science and Mathematics Education Centre (SMEC) of Curtin University of Technology in 2003. In March 2007 he accepted the position of Associate Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology, at the Eindhoven School of Education (ESoE). He became full professor with a chair on 'educational sciences for science education' in September 2010 and also took the position of research director of ESoE at the same time. Between September 2015 and September 2017 he was dean/director of ESoE. Between January 2014 and Septemer 2017 he was also leader of the 4TU Centre for Engineering Education. As per October 1, 2017 he is chair and leader of the group Education and Competence/Learning Studies at Wageningen University & Research. Perry is also European editor of the Learning Environments Research journal.
