Research profile

Nicole Huijts is a postdoctoral researcher at the Human-Technology-Interaction group of the Eindhoven University of technology. The focus of her research is on the public acceptance of sustainable energy projects and on the perception of new technological risks in the domains of energy, ICT and transport.

Topics of interest are risk-benefit perceptions, trust, fairness, values, and emotions around new technologies, such as carbon capture and storage, Internet of Things, hydrogen fuel stations, and ultra-deep geothermal. Nicole mainly uses a social psychological approach (environmental psychology and risk perception), but also applies ethical reflection.

Nicole is currently a postdoc in the European project “Cocoon: Emotion psychology meets cyber-physical security in IoT smart homes”. Nicole previously worked as a postdoc at the Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Technology, Policy and management, on the NWO funded projects “Developing socially responsible innovations: The role of values and moral emotions” and “Moral Emotions and Risk Politics” (VIDI project of Sabine Roeser).

Nicole has an MSc degree with honorable mention from the Eindhoven University of Technology in Technology and Society, and a PhD degree from the Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management.
