The use of technology in perinatal care is spreading and gaining complexity. This calls for multidisciplinary experts with a solid scientific, medical and engineering background combined.
Research profile
Myrthe van der Ven is working as a technical physician both at TU/e Biomedical Engineering in the Cardiovascular Biomechanics (CVBM) group of prof. Frans van de Vosse and at Máxima MC in the Fundamental Perinatology research group of Prof. Guid Oei. Her research interests include electrophysiological pregnancy monitoring, simulation-based education and team training and ultrasonography. This research is part of research area Perinatal Medicine of Eindhoven MedTech Innovation Center (e/MTIC). With her background in technical medicine she has a unique technical-medical perspective and the ability to develop innovative diagnostic and treatment solutions for our patients.
Academic background
Myrthe van der Ven received her MSc in Technical Medicine from the University of Twente in 2011. In 2018, she obtained her PhD degree at the department of Rheumatology from Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam where she investigated the added value of ultrasonography in decision making in rheumatology. Since 2018 she is working at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and Máxima MC as a technical physician in the field of perinatology.
