Academic background

Maud Hulsman-Dohmen obtained her bachelor degree in Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences at Eindhoven University of Technology. She proceeded with the master program Architecture, Building and Planning, also at Eindhoven University of Technology. In 2017 she studied at Chalmers teknisksa högskola, Göteborg, Sweden, as part of the Erasmus Exchange program. She focused on the identification of acoustic indicators to enable certain activities within the applied acoustics research group. She finished her master thesis in 2018 in collaboration with the Dutch national institute for public health and the environment (RIVM) researching road traffic noise interventions and developing a method to quantify their effects on annoyance and sleep disturbance at a small scale.
In 2020, Maud started her PhD project within the building acoustics group at Eindhoven University of Technology. Her PhD is part of the Equal-Life project, coordinated by RIVM, funded by the EU Horizon 2020 Program. In 2023 she joined the project management office at RIVM to manage the project next to conducting research. Whilst conducting her doctoral research, she has presented her work at national and international conferences.

Research profile

Maud Hulsman-Dohmen is a (former) PhD candidate at the Building Acoustics research group of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Her research focusses on children's mental health and how noise exposure (patterns) contribute to it. She aims for an interdisplinary approach, combining acoutic research with health and activity patterns. In 2025 she finished her PhD. In Maud's PhD research, she focused on exploring the role activity patterns and environmental noise exposure in children's mental health and cognition.
