In 2016, I received my BSc. degree at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) after doing my bachelor thesis on dispersity effects in block co-oligomers. I then spend three months at UC Santa Barbara in the group of Craig Hawker working on various semi-fluorinated diblock and multiblock copolymers. For my master thesis, I worked on luminescent π-conjugated polymers with high chiral order in the group of Bert Meijer. After a five month internship at Haldor Topsoe A/S near Copenhagen, Denmark where I worked on improving catalysts for bioconversion, I obtained my MSc. degree at the TU/e in fall 2018. In November 2018 I started my PhD position with Bert Meijer where I aim to use perfectly ordered phase separated π-conjugated block co-oligomers for photoelectronic properties.
Martin van Son studies perfectly ordered phase separated π-conjugated block co-oligomers for photoelectronic properties. By combining synthesis and chemical and physics characterization breakthrough has been made in the field of polarized upconverted emission. His interdisciplinary focus is now directed towards studying these separated π-conjugated block co-oligomers for their singlet fission properties and long-range exciton mobility.
