Lucie Descamps joined Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Immunoengineering group under the supervision of Dr. Jurjen Tel. Her research, combining both technology and immunology fields, aims at providing insights into immune cell behavior at the single-cell level by developing a droplet-based microfluidic platform. In particular, Descamps focuses on the multiplexed detection of cytokines produced by T cells and plasmacytoid dendritic cells to decode cellular interactions and functionality.

Academic background

Lucie Descamps has always shown great enthusiasm for multidisciplinary subjects and innovative technologies to improve patient care. After obtaining her degree in Biomedical Engineering from Telecom Physique Strasbourg, in France, Lucie pursued a PhD at the Lyon Institute of Nanotechnology (France). She worked on the conception of a magnetophoretic-based microfluidic device for the isolation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs), in close collaboration with biologists and physicians from Hospices Civils de Lyon to help guide cancer treatments toward personalized medicine. Previously, she also had the opportunity to work in both public (Gustave Roussy, France) and private environments (CEA Grenoble, France; Micronit BV, The Netherlands) to tackle the challenges raised by personalized medicine in the oncology and immunology fields. Through her current postdoctoral position, Lucie Descamps would like to extend her knowledge in immunology and understand the promise of anticancer immunotherapy strategies.
