Academic background

Laura Van den Berghe obtained her master degree in Business Engineering from KU Leuven, Belgium. She also obtained a postgraduate degree in Innovative Entrepreneurship for Engineers from the University of Ghent, Belgium, for which she studied entrepreneurial business models and worked as a trainee at Energent Energy Cooperative. Her academic background lies in management, economics and entrepreneurship.
By having worked as a project coordinator at Trevion NV, she has practical experience in (Belgian) energy market organization and energy transitions. 

Research profile

Currently, she is pursuing a PhD at the School of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences in the Technology, Innovation and Society group. Her research is about socio-technical upscaling community-based Virtual Power Plant, a novel organizational model that allows energy communities to manage their energy collectively and to participate in smart grid solutions. This research is part of an Interreg NW Europe funded project on cVPP (NWE 588).
