Research profile

Kalliopi Zervanou is a University Lecturer in the Information Systems group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Her research interests lie in the area of natural language processing and in particular text mining and information management of mainly unstructured text data.

She has worked in information extraction research, including language technology applications in information retrieval, digital libraries and semantic web, for a variety of domains (financial, biomedical, humanities, defence). Her most recent research focused on modelling and linking disparate data and event extraction from texts.

Academic background

Kalliopi Zervanou received her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, UK.  She has worked as a Lecturer in Information Systems at Utrecht University and as a postdoctoral researcher at the Universities of Utrecht, Nijmegen and Tilburg in the Netherlands. She was a visiting researcher at the UK National Centre for Text Mining (NaCTeM) in 2010 and the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering, USA in 2014. At TU/e, she is part of Business Process Intelligence and Healthcare clusters at the Information Systems group.
