Julian Held is an assistant professor within the group Plasma & Materials Processing (PMP) at TU/e. He researches the interaction between plasmas and materials with a particular focus on measurements within the plasma and on surfaces in contact with plasmas.

Academic background

After completing his MSc, Julian Held recieved his PhD in Physics in 2021 from the Ruhr University Bochum in Germany. He did his PhD with the group of Achim von Keudell, researching waves in partly magnetized plasmas.

Between 2022 and 2024, he worked as a postdoc in the group of Uwe Kortshagen at the University of Minnesota, researching the dynamics of dust particles suspended in plasmas as well as plasmas for environmental applications.

In November 2024 he joined TU/e as an assistant professor within the group Plasma & Materials Processing.
