I studied chemical engineering at the University of Technology Eindhoven, where I obtained an engineer’s degree in 2012. My graduation project was performed in the group of Professor Sijbesma, under the supervision of Erik Schwartz, which addressed the synthesis of a mesogenic catalyst for the formation of a catalytically active nanoporous membrane. Currently I am a PhD student in the same group. My research revolves around the fabrication of self-assembling nano-structured materials, for which I am currently investigating the use of discotic liquid crystals to form so called ‘super-lattices’. We believe that these structures can lay ground to the formation of a nanoporous membrane.
