Jelle de Vries was born on April 19th, 1978 in Mierlo, the Netherlands. After completing his bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering in 2003 at the Fontys University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, he followed the master in Innovation Management at Eindhoven University of Technology, also in the Netherlands. In 2011, he graduated at the Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship & Marketing group of the department of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences on the master thesis topic of knowledge sharing in buyer-seller relationships. In January 2012 he started a PhD project at the same university. The results of this work are presented in this dissertation. His first journal article on knowledge sharing in inter-organizational relationships was published in 2014 in Industrial Marketing Management.

Since 2003 Jelle is employed at Royal Philips, where he has worked in a variety of Supply Chain Management and Procurement roles. In 2012, he joined Philips´ procurement organization and held a variety of roles, primarily operating in the Netherlands. Currently he is Commodity Cluster Leader, managing a globally distributed team of 14 strategic buyers for all computing, software, display and user interfacing components embedded in Philips’ products. He also acts as the Lead Procurement Business Partner for Philips’ HealthCare Informatics and Population Health Management business. Additionally, he supports Philips’ Enterprise Platforms business unit to secure the creation and management of key supplier contracts and relationships.

Jelle was nominated as a High Potential within Philips in 2009. Because of this, he was able to follow specialized training in Philips’ high-potential development center. Two years later, he was selected to participate in the second stage of this program to further develop individual and leadership skills. In 2013, he was awarded the Philips Procurement Innovation Excellence award for his work on a groundbreaking product concept involving the seamless integration and projection of Healthcare data on Google glass devices.
