Research profile

Ji Li is a Ph.D. candidate studying on urban heritage and sustainability at TU/e under supervision of Prof. Pieter van Wesemael, Prof. Ana Pereira Roders and dr. Sukanya Krishnamurthy. His topic emphasizes the role of cultural heritage and its management for promoting wellbeings of both communities and their identities. His research interests include community participation in sustainable urban development and World Heritage management.

Trained as an architect and urban designer in China, Ji Li received his Honours Master Degree of Engineering in Architecture in the School of Human Settlements and Civil Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) in 2017. Prior to joining the Chair of Urbanism and Urban Architecture at TU/e, his work focused on urban values and community place-making in the Institute of Heritage Site and Historical Architecture Conservation. He participated in many academic projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong.
