Boukje Huijben is an Assistant Professor in Sustainable Business Model Innovation (SBMI) in the Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship and Marketing (ITEM) group of the department of Industrial Engineering of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Boukje is passionate about the development of new strategies for sustainable business, combining insights from different disciplines and working with academics as well as practitioners in the field of AgroFood, Energy and Logistics.She currently teaches a bachelor course (Green Business Models) as well as an Innovation Bootcamp in Entrepreneurship for PhD and PDEng students working in the field of smart cities. She also supervises bachelor and master theses in the field of sustainable business, involving students in various ongoing research projects. 

Academic background

Boukje Huijben obtained her PhD at the department of Innovation Sciences of TU/e in 2015 focusing on the analysis of solar energy business models and entrepreneurial strategies for dealing with regulatory regimes. Additionally, she worked as a postdoc for the Strategic Area Energy (SAE) of TU/e researching business models for energy efficiency products and services, with a strong focus on the role of the end user. She also was a lecturer in the field of sustainability transitions and business models for students and professionals at TU/e and external, both national and international.

Boukje is a member of Foundation 'Het Groene Brein' (The Green Brain) which aims to connect scientists to companies in order to stimulate the transition towards a green and sustainable economy.
