Research profile

Jason Heinrichs is a Doctoral Candidate at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) within the group ‘Inorganic Materials & Catalysis’ (IMC). This research group investigates the fundamental of structure-performance relations for heterogeneous catalysts. Jason his research is focused on mapping the porous structure of catalytic carriers and the effect of their porous structure on the preparation and final state of heterogeneous catalysts. He conducts this research by means of difference modes of Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), such as (S)TEM tomography and cryo-(S)TEM. This technique allows for the 3D reconstruction of heterogeneous catalyst through which the porous structure of it can be characterized by descriptors such as surface area and pore volume.

Academic background

Jason Heinrichs obtained his master’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 2021 at the University of Technology Eindhoven (TU/e) under the supervision of prof.dr. Bert de With and dr. Heiner Friedrich. During his master’s he followed the specialization track focused on molecular systems and materials chemistry. Jason spend his master’s partially within the material science department at the ETH Zürich in Switzerland. In September 2021, he started his PhD research at the research group ‘Inorganic Materials & Chemistry’ (IMC) supervised by prof.dr.ir Emiel Hensen, prof.dr. Thomas Weber, and dr. Heiner Friedrich. This research project is part of the Advanced Research Center Chemical Building blocks consortium (ARC CBBC).
