Fernando Lit is an early stage researcher of the Circular Plastics Network for Training (C-PlaNeT), a project funded by the European Union in the framework of the H2020 Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions – Innovative Training Networks. His research on 'new strategies and business models for a circular plastics transition' is being conducted at the Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship and Marketing (ITEM) group of the Department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), in collaboration with Ghent University and Dow Chemical Company. The objective of his research is to design new business models for circular plastics to stimulate their market adoption.
Fernando finished his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at the University of the Philippines. After graduation, he worked as a process engineer at Fluor Corporation, working with a global team on the design and engineering of multibillion dollar projects for clients in the energy and chemicals sector.
Four years later, Fernando received a scholarship for an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree under the International Master in Industrial Management (IMIM) Programme, where he was able to study with people from more than 26 different nationalities while living in three different European cities. During his studies, he was able to complement his technical background with business perspectives, learning about topics such as strategy, business models, marketing, finance, supply chain, operations, and strategic management. He holds a triple degree from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Polytechnic University of Milan, and Heriot-Watt University.
His current research interests include sustainability, business models, circular economy, and innovation. He hopes to find research contributions that will be relevant in advancing and improving the sustainability agenda in both the Philippines and worldwide.
