Research profile

Evelien de Hoop is a guest researcher at the Eindhoven University of Technology and postdoctoral researcher at Utrecht University. She specializes in the study of knowledge politics through a mixed-methods, transnational lense and engages with theoretical approaches such as actor-network theory, history of infrastructure, responsible innovation and transition studies. In 2016, she defended her PhD at Eindhoven University of Technology entitled 'Material Voices: Articulating Democracy through Biodiesel's Socio-Material Entanglements'.

My background is interdisciplinary, with particular focus on geography and science and technology studies (STS). I study the relationship between the making of (non-)scientific knowledge on socio-ecological challenges and the ways in which these challenges are (attemted to be) addressed. Empirically, I focus on questions of socio-ecological inequality and inclusiveness in multi-sited, globally entangled contexts which bring together the rural and the urban; and the global North and global South.
