Ellen van Heeswijk is a doctoral canditate in the Stimuli-responsive Functional Materials and Devices group under supervision of prof. dr. Albert Schenning. In close colaboration with industry, Ellen works on stimuli-responsive coating using liquid crystalline monomers.

Academic background

Ellen first arrived at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in 2010 to start her academic career. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering in 2013, after which she started the polymers and Composites track of the master Chemical Engineering at TU/e. Her graduation project titled "Isocyanate-free approach to water-borne polyurethane dispersion for coating applications" was succesfully completed in the Polymer Chemistry group under supervision of dr. Bart Noordover and prof. dr. Cor Koning, followed by an industrial internship at DSM Coating Resins. Since 2015 she works as a doctoral candidate in the Stimuli-responsive Functional Materials and Devices group under supervision of prof. dr. Albert Schenning.
