Doga Ceylan was born in 1992 in Izmir, Turkey. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, in 2016 and 2018, respectively. During his master's studies, he worked on multi-physical modeling and design of electromagnetic launchers and capacitive pulsed-power supplies. He started his Ph.D. studies at the Electrical Engineering Department of Eindhoven University of Technology in 2019. During his Ph.D. with the Electromechanics and Power Electronics research group, he worked on the design and control of various types of reluctance machines for heavy-duty electric vehicles. He developed several analytical, numerical, and semi-analytical simulation models for nonlinear magnetodynamic problems, including laminated electrical steel. He applies a multi-physical design and analysis approach to design sustainable electromechanical systems with rare-earth-free structures. After he successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis in 2024 with a distinction cum laude, he started his Postdoc on the development of a demonstrator prototype of a high-torque variable flux reluctance motor designed for agricultural electric tractors. He is currently an assistant professor within the Electromechanics and Power Electronics research group and continues his research on the multi-physical design of electromechanical systems, focusing on electric mobility and the development of novel control strategies applied to reluctance-based electrical drive systems.
