Academic background

Daniëlle Scheepers received her BSc and MSc Chemical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology. After finishing her MSc in 2019 she started as a researcher in the Membrane Materials and Processes Group, Department of Chemical Engineering & Chemistry, Eindhoven University of Technology. Her expertises are polymer membrane development, membrane characterization and nanofiltration membrane modelling.

Research profile

Our western lifestyle consumes more than four times the available resources of the earth. Additionally, we produce enormous waste streams. The ‘selective hierarchical coatings’ project focuses on developing a simple, generic method that makes it possible to make "customized membranes". The properties of those membranes can be influenced and controlled by applying different, very thin selective layers on a porous support. This makes it possible to produce membranes that are specifically suitable for different water streams, such as the purification of industrial wastewater, the recovery of valuable substances from aqueous flows or the production of clean drinking water. With “customized membranes” we can close the water cycle.
