The importance of sustainability cannot be underestimated. Working in the group of Professor Kitty Nijmeijer gives me the chance to contribute towards a sustainable future.
Research profile
Cees Weijers is a technical researcher with the Membrane Materials and Process Technology group of the TU/e department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. He has extensive experience in research and development towards improving the properties of polymeric and composite materials. His fields of expertise are: polymer membranes; polymer synthesis; polymer characterization; composite materials; hollow fiber membrane spinning; gas separation; and advanced characterization techniques (DSC, TGA, NMR, FT-IR, SEM, SEC, GC/MS, etc.).
Weijers is involved with the Membrane Innovation Centre Eindhoven (MIC/e), which translates academic knowledge to concrete industrial applications and provides solutions for industrial questions in confidential projects that can take hours (for example a standard membrane characterization) or years (for example the development of a new type of membrane).
Academic background
Cees Weijers obtained his BSc degree in Organic Chemistry from the Institute of Chemistry and Technology at Saxion University of Applied Sciences (Eindhoven, the Netherlands) in 2001. His graduation research (with Akzo Nobel, Arnhem, The Netherlands) was concerned with new self-emulsifying waterborne coating systems for the automotive industry. From 2002 to 2006, he was a researcher at the Polymer Technology research group of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e, The Netherlands). From 2006 to 2012 he was an independent consultant in the field of polymer technology through Weijers Polymer Consultancy (WPC). From 2006 to 2017 he was a research fellow at the Polymer Technology Group Eindhoven (PTG/e). Since 2017, he is a technical researcher at the Membrane Innovation Centre Eindhoven (MIC/e) at TU/e.
