Carolina Maciel Rangel is a PhD candidate in the Unit of Structural Engineering and Design in the Department of the Built Environment of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Carolina’s research focuses on developing sustainable and thermal-efficient 3D printable mortars.

 

Academic background

Carolina M. Rangel obtained her MSc degree in Civil Engineering in 2019 at the University of Porto, Faculty of Engineering, following her studies at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She specialized in Building Construction, focusing on integrating digital models into structural rehabilitation works performed in existing buildings. She assisted companies in the digital transition towards an integrated workflow of data, digital representation, planning and construction operations before initiating her research at TU/e. Since 2021, Carolina has been developing composite materials for 3D printing to fabricate structural and thermally efficient building components.
