Research profile

Green hydrogen produced by water electrolysis is expeceted to play an essential role in the energy transition. Particularly, alkaline water electrolysis results results very attractive as it does not rely on expensive electrode materials. Still, nowadays electrolyzers are limited by chemical stability under shut-down periods.

The Alkali-ACE project seeks to gain further insight on the critical variables driving the water splitting reaction in alkaline electrolyzers by delving into fundamental aspects of the cell's kinetics and transport phenomena.

The objective of this research is to develope advanced characterization techniques as well as improved acceleratede stress testing protocols on the electrolyzers.
