His current topic of research is turbulent ammonia/hydrogen bluff body-stabilized near-extinction flames with numerical simulation.
In 2021, Boyan Xu completed his master’s study in the School of Energy and Power at Beihang University, China with the major in Power Engineering and Thermal Physics.
In 2018, he completed his bacholer’s study in Harbin Engineering University majoring in Power Engineering.

From 2024, he is the TA of the course Modelling Combustion.
Since 2024, he has supervised three BEPs and one Master's end project with the topic bluff body-stabilized flame and Jet-in-crossflow.
In 2018, Boyan Xu participated in the project "Kinetics of Solid propellant combustion" at Harbin Engineering University as a Bachelor student.
From 2019 to 2020, he studied the mechanism of methane flame's flashback for micro-combustors at Beihang University as Master's internship.
From 2020-2021, he participated in the project "Supercritical Spray and Combustion" at Beihang University and focused on the character of supercritical kerosene jet in crossflow as his Master's end project.
From 2022, he joined the Power & Flow group as a Ph.D. candidate.
In 2024, he joined Energy and Turbomachinery Network (ETN Global) as a Young Engineer Committee member.
