Bart Kruizinga graduated from the same group in December last year on the subject of interference from arcing on high voltage lines. He recently started his PhD project which is focused on condition assessment of the low voltage grid. In collaboration with Locamation, Enexis, TNO and TU/e the opportunities of a measurement system to assess LV cable condition and fault detection are under investigation. As few customer minutes are lost with faults in this grid level, little monitoring is installed at present, however cables are reaching very long in-service times and fault numbers slowly but steadily increase. This projects aims to be able to give LV grid operators insight into the cable system without interruption, being able to predict faults and give a better grip on replacement strategies.
