Personal profile
Research profile
Astrid is enrolled in the 5 years Ph.D. program in the Signal Processing Systems group as a member of the Information and Communication Theory Lab. Her research focuses on mathematical modeling for optical fiber transmissions in the nonlinear regime, and the design of pragmatic digital signal processing schemes to overcome nonlinear distortions.
Academic background
Astrid Barreiro holds a B.Sc. (2012) and M.Sc. (2018) degrees in Physics from La Universidad del Valle, Colombia. Her MSc research focused on the efficiency of the surface codes, a family of topological quantum error-correcting codes.
During 2017 and 2018, she worked as an assistant professor at La Universidad del Valle and the Pontifical Xavierian University. Due to the type of her Ph.D., she is also actively involved in training and practice activities in education.
