Personal profile

Research profile

Astrid is a Doctoral Candidate TA in the Signal Processing Systems group and a member of the Information and Communication Theory Lab. Her research focuses on mathematical modeling for optical fiber transmissions in the nonlinear regime, and the design of pragmatic digital signal processing schemes to overcome nonlinear distortions.

Academic background

Astrid holds a B.Sc. (2012)  and M.Sc. (2018) degrees in Physics from Universidad del Valle, Colombia. Her MSc research focused on the efficiency of surface codes, a family of topological quantum error-correcting codes.

During 2017 and 2018, she worked as a lecturer at Universidad del Valle and the Pontifical Xavierian University. Due to her type of Ph.D., she is actively engaged in training and practice activities in education.
