Arjan Markus is an Assistant Professor in the Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship and Marketing (ITEM) group at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research focuses on the role of collaboration networks, labor mobility, and internal organization in corporate innovation. His work has been published in the Strategic Management Journal and the Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings. Together with a European consortium, he obtained a large-scale H2020 research project titled "Code Re-farm: Consumer-driven demands to reframe farming systems", studying and developing ecosystem management and business models in agrifood.

Academic background

Arjan Markus obtained his Ph.D. in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, in 2014. During his Ph.D., he visited the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA, and he did so again later on as a postdoc. Arjan also holds BSc and MSc degrees in Human Geography and Planning from Utrecht University. Prior to joining Eindhoven University of Technology, Arjan worked as an Assistant Professor at Tilburg University. He joined the ITEM group at TU/e in 2019 and teaches the Master course Strategy and Technology Management, the Bachelor course Organizing Entrepreneurship, and the PDEng course Technology Entrepreneurship. He co-supervises five PhD candidates, and he has supervised over 30 master theses and 40 bachelor theses.
