1990- date: Full Professor Energy Technology, Dept. Mech. Engng., TU/e 2002- 2006: Part-time Professor BioHeat Transfer, Dept. Biomed. Engng, TU/e 2003: Visiting Professor AIST-Tsukuba, Japan 1985-1990: Associate Professor (Bio-)Fluid Mechanics, TU/e 1979-1985: Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering, TU/e 1975-1979: PhD-study at TU/e and Maastricht University (profs.Veenstra and Reneman) 1969-1975: MSc-study Technical Physics at TU/e (Cum Laude).   Early research is focussed on bio-fluid flows and from the mid-nineties on convective heat transfer and transitional flows. Present heat transfer research interests are: transitional mixed convection, transitional flows in turbo-machinery, granular fouling, sustainable energy technology, micro-cooling and bio-thermal problems.    Chairman or member in professional organizations: ·       President of the Eurotherm Committee (since 2010). ·       Member Executive Committee of International Centre of Heat and Mass Transfer (since 2010) ·       Dutch Representative in the General Assemblies of IHTC (since 1996) and IUTAM (since 2004) ·       Co-chairman (2004- 2008) and member of the Scientific Program Committee of Ercoftac (since 2002) ·       Coordinator of the SIG on Bio Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer of Ercoftac (since 2002) ·       Chairman of the European Heat Transfer Conference (in 2008) in Eindhoven and of one Euromech symposium and three Eurotherm symposia. ·       Member of the "Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen" (since 1992) ·       FOM-Programme leader Turbulence and its Role in Energy Conversion Processes (till 2011) ·       Member of many prize committees, among which the KNAW-jury for the annual DOW- Energy prize (till 2008) and FOM Valorisation Prize (since 2009).
