The work I am currently developing, being part of the Europen MEMERE project, aims to develop a novel membrane reactor for the production of ethylene via oxidative coupling of methane (OCM). The main objective of this study is to do the proof of concept at lab scale, showing the advantages and the feasibility of the membrane reactor for this specific application. The OCM membrane reactor, which can integrate porous or dense oxygen membranes, combines different process steps in a single multifunctional and it is expected to increase the overall reactor yield. The results of this project will contribute to the competitiveness of the European process industry in a field (ethylene production) that is an important part of the chemical sector.
