This is a course about basic visualization concepts and design. The students will learn how to effectively design visualization tools. Lectures will provide the basic principles and theoretical basis. The theory will be individually tested in one exam and applied to one specific data set and scenario. Groups will be formed and each group specifies a goal, designs, and actually builds a visualization tool. Each group must follow and document the visual design process, justifying their choices, and implement and evaluate their design. Each project is concluded with a presentation (screencast) and a written final report. In addition, the development of professional skills is an important aspect of this project.
