Because of its transparency, glass takes a unique position amongst building materials. Both for it’s easthetic and practical (light transmittance) qualities, the material is widely used – also in structural applications. However, glass is extremely brittle. This requires specific approaches in structural design and validation. In this course, students will be introduced to fundamentals of structural glass engineering, through a series of lectures in combination with a small scale design exercise.
