Steel structures and applied mechanics

Course

Description

In the course `Steel structures and applied mechanics' the following applied mechanics topics are treated: theory of stresses, (plastic) cross-sectional resistance, plastic collapse analysis of frames and flexural buckling stability. These topics are subsequently applied to and elaborated for modelling and design of skeletal steel structures (columns and beams). Apart from that, inhomogeneous cross-sections, fire safety and conservation of steel structures are treated.
