Learning objectives
  1. Design a system’s architecture following the good practices learned in the seminars
  2. Synthesize state observers for robotics applications using the appropriate choices (Kalman, Bayes, Particle filters).
  3. Identify and use appropriate trajectory optimization methods for robotics applications.
  4. Design and implement a controller for quadcopters.
Integrate knowledge acquired during the seminars into a robotics application, following the guidelines provided by practitioners.

Objectives

The robotics seminars consist of a series of four seminars, presented by experts at TU/e, in the broad field of robotics, with a special focus on quadcopters. In these seminars the PDEng trainees learn some fundamental robotics concepts, as well as practical insights from successful robotics projects. It starts with a general introduction to robotics and by discussing “dos and don’ts” of a system architecture. The trainees are then exposed to concepts such as Kalman, Bayes, and particle filters, motion planning, trajectory optimization, and quadcopter modeling and control. The seminars series is concluded with some successful applications developed at TU/e using quadcopters
