Risk, trust and social media



The first half of this course presents a framework for risk analysis, looking at how scientific and technical approaches to risk assessment and safety engineering relate to the ethics and politics of risk, and at the role of new media in communicating and managing risks. The second half focuses on insights from sociology and social network analysis applied to design and use of technologies: e.g. how trust can be created in online communities and social media.
