This course deals with real-estate and urban-development processes and building information modeling. Many parties are involved in the realization and (re-)development of buildings or areas. Possibly, buildings may become vacant during their exploitation period and will have to be transformed especially when for a change of use is decided. This course will discuss the different phases of the project development process, the parties involved, the sustainability aspects, the legal and planning frameworks in which the actors have to act. Furthermore, the course will go into building information modeling and the use of (digital) information in all phases of the building life cycle.
