Quantum optics and quantum information



The field of quantum information represents the direct application of the most counterintuitive predictions of quantum physics. Concepts such as indetermination and entanglement find application in quantum-secure communication and novel computing paradigms. Photons are promising quantum bits, and their interaction with atoms opens new avenues to quantum information processing (Nobelprize 2012). This course describes the basic concepts of quantum optics and quantum information theory.
