As the society becomes more and more dependent on electricity, reliability of power systems is increasingly important. To achieve a high reliability it is of utmost importance to have an adequete protection system. In this lecture the fundamentals of power system protection will be discussed. Also attention will be paid to automation of electricity systems as this increases the reliability of the power system.
