Description

The course will start with an overview of high tech systems in which motion is key, and in which the mechatronic challenges are apparent. Examples are wafer scanners, CD players, electron microscopes etc. In the first lectures additional attention will be devoted to the systems aspects, system architecture, systems engineering and various tools for product development (CAFCR, V model).

The subjects covered are:
  • Intro / Systems Engineering / V-model / Product Creation Process / - 3D printer case
  • Applied Physics - Netwon/Hooke/Dynamics
  • Motion Control – Basics, stability and performance.
  • Electromagnetic Actuators - Motor Selection
  • Measurement in Mechatronic Systems
  • Motion Control – Tuning, Robustness,
  • System Engineering & Risk Analysis
  • Electromechanic actuators - Motor Design – Magnetic Circuits
  • FEMM Magnetic modelling
  • Power Electronics
  • Mechatronics in today’s ASML systenms
  • Special Topics / protecting your IP

Objectives

To be able to apply systematic design steps for modelling, analysis and control of mechanical motion systems as used in the high tech systems industry.
